Deploying Industrial Defender: A proven framework

Most OT security deployments require months, consume IT bandwidth you don't have, and require your team to figure things out after the vendor leaves. Ours doesn't.

Industrial Defender has been deploying in live industrial environments since 2006. We built our implementation process around one constraint above all others: your operations can't stop.

< 10 weeks
from project scoping to system operation
< 50% the cost
of comparable solutions (Clean Power Generation)
80% reduction
in compliance prep time (Midwest Public Utility)
The Concern We Hear Most

"We can't afford a disruption to our OT environment."

Neither can your ratepayers, your regulators, or your operations team.

That's why our deployment methodology was built from day one for environments where downtime isn't an option. We don't learn your environment during implementation — we arrive with a tested process, dedicated services engineers, and a site prep guide that resolves firewall rules, network configuration, and user accounts before we ever touch your systems.

Your control systems keep running. Your team stays informed at every step.

HOW IT WORKS

A Structured Process. No Surprises.

1
Installation

We deploy and configure ID Central Manager and ID Collectors (physical or virtual). Agents go on Windows and Linux endpoints; agentless collection begins for Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, and your OT protocols — DNP3, Modbus, ENIP/CIP, S7, and more.

2
Testing & Validation

Every endpoint is validated. Compliance reports are reviewed against your specific requirements — NERC CIP, NIST CSF, IEC 62443, or others. We tune alerting thresholds to your environment before handoff.

3
Training

Your team gets a dedicated ID 101 training class — delivered remotely or on-site. After training, you have access to free training videos, a knowledge base, support portal, and the ID Users Group: a monthly peer forum where customers share practices and ID product management shares roadmap updates.

4
Sustain

We don't disappear after go-live. Sustain services include periodic health checks and tuning for organizations that want ongoing support.. Semi-annual check-ins keep your deployment aligned as your environment evolves.

No disruption.

No guesswork.

No custom coding.
What a Day Looks Like After You're Live

Your team's new morning routine.

Open the Industrial Defender Dashboard. Review any high-priority events. Check baseline exceptions. Verify assets are reporting. Onboard anything new.

That's it. What used to take 5 hours now takes 45 minutes.

No custom scripts. No manual spreadsheets. No scrambling before an audit.

Built for Real Industrial Environments

We've executed in environments like yours.

Industrial Defender has deployed across electric utilities, combined-cycle power plants, oil & gas operations, chemical facilities, water systems, and global manufacturing — including environments with SCADA, DCS, PLCs, HMIs, relay gateways, GPS time sync servers, and industrial switches.

Our collection stack adapts to your architecture: agent where it makes sense, agentless where it doesn't, and passive network traffic analysis where active queries aren't possible. You don't get locked into one method.

  • < 1% CPU footprint — agents don't impact your endpoints
  • VM-first deployment — no mandatory hardware purchases
  • Active OT collection since 2006 — battle-tested in live ICS environments
