Oct. 4 - 6, 2011     |     Foxwoods Resort & Casino - Mashantucket, CT, USA

In July 2010, cyber security of industrial systems took center stage as the Stuxnet worm began its attack on key Siemens systems. Since then, control operators, engineers, and others immersed in automation environments have seen unprecedented levels of pressure levied by corporate IT and regulators. The 2011 Industrial Defender Customer Working Group aims to provide automation IT professionals a forum to:

  • Learn how to better leverage current cyber technology investments to support security & compliance initiatives
  • Hear real-world experiences through case studies delivered by industrial control professionals
  • Develop functional skills and expertise that will support efforts to better protect industrial control systems
  • Identify industrial community partnering opportunities to combat emerging security threats
  • Network with peers across industry to identify best practices for automation system security & compliance

Keynote Speaker

The New Landscape of Control System Security

Stuxnet. Advanced persistent threats. Military and civilian cyber forces. Criminals eying big profits from causing economic disruptions.

No, your sky isn't falling. But under certain circumstances, it could.

What are those circumstances? What should you be watching for, and what should you be doing in the meantime? To orient yourself in this new landscape, you will need to look at the emerging threats more deeply and analytically. You will need to have a better grasp of the possible consequences of the new range of attacks, and you will need to start thinking about a much wider range of defensive tools. This discussion provides a map of the new landscape and introduces several concepts needed to make sense of it.
