Access Manager

Secure Remote Access and Authentication

Assuring security at remote substations and access points has long been a challenge due to the need for contractors and technicians to readily gain access to deal with maintenance issues.

Industrial Defender’s Access Manager enables secure access and authentication for critical cyber asset protection in substations and other remote site locations.

Two editions are offered to accommodate utilities with different operating requirements:

Access Manager Standard – for smaller utilities with less demanding management and access requirements

Access Manager Plus – for utilities with larger numbers of substations and remote users

Tight Integration with the SEM

Evolved from the Teltone Gauntlet secure substation access system, Access Manager is now tightly integrated with the Industrial Defender Security Event Manager (SEM) for consolidated reporting, centralized management and access control. The Access Manager and SEM combined provide a robust security solution to protect control system environments in a flexible, cost-effective platform.

Key Features

  • Secure dial-up, IP and serial-over-IP communication
  • Centralized management of users, authorizations and substation devices
  • Individualized credentials (digital certificates, two-factor authentication)
  • Electronic security perimeter protection for substation equipment
  • Active Directory integration for single point of administration and groups management (Plus version only)
  • Comprehensive incident reports including one-click AutoAudit report
  • Protocol and hardware agnostic for low-impact deployment

Secure Dial-up Substation Access

For remote substations accessible only through a standard analog telephone connection, the Industrial Defender Dial-up Gateway offers security, reliability and communications cost reduction. Built on the reliability of the Teltone SLSS* (Substation Line Sharing Switch) platform, the Dial-up Gateway offers several benefits:

  • Protects substation modems from unauthorized access
  • Shares a single substation telephone line between up to eight devices
  • Supports Access Manager firmware updates
  • Uploads call logs to Access Manager
  • Enhances on-site worker safety by giving priority to outgoing calls
  • Provides IEEE Standard C37.90 SWC (Surge Withstand Capability) protection
