"America’s failure to protect cyberspace is one of the most urgent national security problems facing the country."
–from S. 773, Cybersecurity Act of 2009
The new presidential administration is making progress towards securing the nation’s critical infrastructure. Recently introduced cyber security legislation reinforces the need to enhance critical infrastructure cyber security protection.
On May 29, the White House released a Cyberspace Policy Review based on a 60-day, comprehensive review to assess U.S. policies and structures for cybersecurity. The review team of government cybersecurity experts engaged and received input from a broad cross-section of industry, academia, the civil liberties and privacy communities, State governments, international partners, and the Legislative and Executive Branches. It is expected that this report will provide an action plan for business and government to work together to address the cyber security issue.
