Security Engineer (Wilmington, DE, USA)

Location: Wilmington, Delaware

Position Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated Security Engineer to support our global customer base on various supported devices such as various firewall platforms and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), both network-based (NIDS) and host-based (HIDS). In addition to providing customer support, in this role, you will be responsible for providing support for escalations from the Security Operations Center (SOC) to include implementing policy changes to firewall rulesets, defining and troubleshooting VPN connections (both IPSEC and SSL), and other related tasks as necessary to support the operation of the team. In this hands-on role, you will be part of our Services Team working closely with existing global clients. This is an evening shift position.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and accurate responses for incident handling, incident response, and escalation management in a 24x7 operational environment
  • Install, operate, and maintain customer firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS)
  • Resolve ticket escalations from the Security Operations Center Security Analysts
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to customer questions and concerns
  • Manage multiple tasks independently and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to operate under tight deadlines
  • Work closely with global customers to configure and deploy security appliances according to their specifications
  • Provide second level technical support for various firewall and IDS issues
  • Review and approve/disapprove 'complex' customer change requests to be implemented before implementation by the Security Analysts
  • Provide security guidance to our global customer base
  • Provide work direction and guidance to other personnel
  • Provide support to clients for queries involving our product offerings


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science and 3+ years of similar 'hands-on' cyber security work experience, with a strong focus on good security practices. Or, 5+ years of equivalent work experience.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of security monitoring, IDS, IPS, vulnerability scanners, firewall technologies and *NIX operating systems.
  • Self-directed and motivated, with ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communications, time management, decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility of schedule and working hours is required, providing rotating on-call support for Security Operations Center escalations.
  • Experience with SCADA, networking and UNIX system administration is a plus.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and/or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) is a plus.
